With the growth of the many trees on the course and the compact nature of the layout, the course demands straight driving and accurate iron play. The sub soil is clay which means it is always green and in excellent condition during the summer months and with the addition of both green and fairway drainage is now very playable throughout the winter period.
Ely City golf course is a 72 par 6348 yds (6627 yrds off the white tees) Henry Cotton designed parkland course located on the outskirts of the city. Opened in 1973 it provides a true test of golf for golfers of all abilities and with the growth of the many trees and the compact nature of the layout it demands straight driving and accurate iron play.
